Vital Records

Effective Monday, December 21, 2020, appointment only in-person services are available at our main office in Santa Ana. Only one person may enter per appointment. No additional guests are allowed in the building. No walk-in customers are accepted until further notice.

Our Anaheim and Laguna Hills branch offices will remain closed except for marriage services. Most Clerk-Recorder services continue to be available online and by mail; we encourage you to utilize this option first if possible.

Effective January 4, 2021, Marriage Services will continue virtually and in-person at our branch offices in Anaheim, Laguna Hills, and the Old Orange County Courthouse in Santa Ana by appointment only. To book a marriage services appointment, please follow the link below.

Birth, Death and Marriage Records 

 Note: The Clerk-Recorder Department does not maintain divorce records. Visit Superior Court, County of Orange at www.occourts.org for more information.  

Who Can Request a Vital Record? 

Only authorized individuals may receive a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage record.

Those who do not qualify as authorized individuals may receive an Informational certified copy. An Informational certified copy shows the words "INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY” imprinted across the face. Please note that Informational certified copies do not exist for a Confidential Marriage; only the bride or groom are authorized to order a certified copy.
