Publication Requirements for New FBN and eFBN Filings

After your Fictitious Business Name (FBN) statement has been filed, California law requires you to publish the statement in a legally adjudicated newspaper of general circulation located in the county where the FBN was filed.

Please follow these publication requirements:

• The statement must be published once per week for four (4) consecutive weeks.
• The first publication must occur within 45 calendar days of the filing date.
• If the first publication is not completed within 45 calendar days, the FBN statement will expire automatically.
• Once an FBN statement has expired, a new FBN statement must be filed, and all applicable filing fees must be paid. Extensions are not permitted under California law.

To assist you in selecting a newspaper, you may download the non-exclusive list of adjudicated newspapers. Please note that this list is provided for your convenience and may not include every adjudicated newspaper authorized to publish FBN statements.
