Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department Earns National Achievement Award for Its OC Weddings App

WASHINGTON – The Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department has been recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.

NACo recognized the department’s “OC Weddings Mobile App”, in the category of Information Technology. The mobile app allows customers to both complete their marriage license application and set an appointment for a civil marriage ceremony with the Clerk-Recorder Department, all from the convenience of their electronic/mobile devices.

Clerk-Recorder Announces Changes to Services Effective July 20

In efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, effective Monday, July 20, 2020, the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department will be closing its branch offices in Anaheim, Laguna Hills, and at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana to the public until further notice. The department’s office at the County Service Center (CSC) in Santa Ana will remain open but only offer over-the-counter services for birth, death and marriage certificates, professional registrations, and real property document recordings. For faster service, customers can submit their application online for a birth, death, or marriage certificate prior to visiting the CSC. All other services will be offered by mail only. The department’s Westminster office will remain closed to the public.

Orange County Clerk-Recorder to Reopen Offices and Resume All Services to the Public on June 10

After remaining closed since March to help stop the spread of COVID-19, Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen is excited to announce the reopening of his offices to the public effective Wednesday, June 10, 2020. The department will be offering all its services while implementing social distancing guidelines to ensure the safety of staff and customers. Services will resume at the department’s North County branch office in Anaheim, its South County branch office in Laguna Hills, at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana and at the County Administration South building at the Civic Center Plaza in Santa Ana. The department’s Westminster location will remain closed until further notice.

Orange County Clerk-Recorder to Resume Marriage Services at Honda Center in Anaheim

Effective Friday, April 17, 2020, the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department will begin offering marriage licenses and civil marriage ceremonies to couples whose marriage appointments were postponed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Marriage services will be available at Honda Center in Anaheim at 2695 E. Katella Ave, corner of Katella and S. Douglass Road. Service is by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Media is invited to Honda Center this Friday between 10 a.m. and noon. Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will be available to answer any questions from the media and to ensure a smooth resumption of services.

Orange County Clerk-Recorder Announces Changes to Office Access and to Service Delivery Options

Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will be closing all of his department’s office locations to the public effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, as a precautionary measure to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus also known as COVID-19. The Clerk-Recorder believes that it is in the best interest of its customers and employees to make some temporary changes in service delivery processes and to use mail and online services as much as possible. This will reduce exposure for all parties and allow services to continue with limited interruptions.

Orange County Clerk-Recorder to Celebrate One Year Anniversary of North County Branch Office in Anaheim

Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will be celebrating the one year anniversary of the opening of his department’s North County Branch Office in Anaheim. The office opened in March of 2019 and has grown busier day by day in serving the needs of residents from North Orange County. The celebration will start at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020. It will take place at the department’s North County Branch Office inside the Wells Fargo Building located at 222 N. Harbor Blvd., Ste. 110, Anaheim, CA 92805. Parking is available in the Wells Fargo Parking Garage which enters on Broadway or street side in the free 90 minute zones.

County Clerk-Recorder Looking to Break Leap Year Record

The year 2020 is a Leap Year, and since a Leap Day only occurs every four years Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will be opening his offices for couples who wish to marry on Leap Day, Saturday, February 29. The department’s North and South County branch offices, as well as the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana, will be open for special Saturday hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 29. The Clerk-Recorder is expecting to have a record breaking Leap Day due to this rare occurrence.

Anaheim Ducks Wild Wing to Make a Splash During Clerk-Recorder's Valentine's Day Celebration

The Anaheim Ducks official mascot Wild Wing will be making a special appearance at the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department’s North County Branch Office in Anaheim on Valentine’s Day during the department’s extended hours. Wild Wing will be at the office from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will be helping Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen welcome couples looking to “tie the knot” on what is considered the most romantic day of the year. The office is located at 222 S. Harbor Blvd, Ste. 110, Anaheim, CA 92805.

Clerk-Recorder to Host 4th Annual Passport Day at Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana

Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen invites the public to take advantage of Passport Day in Santa Ana to get their passports now and avoid last minute travel delays. For the fourth year in a row, Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will be hosting this special day at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana. Only applications for new passports will be accepted. This year’s opening will be held on Saturday March 7, 2020 from 9 am to 3 pm.

Orange County Clerk-Recorder to Offer Extended Valentine's Day Hours - Looks to Break Standing Record

For those looking to tie the knot on what many consider to be the most romantic day of the year, look no further. This upcoming Valentine’s Day, Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will be offering extended hours at his offices in Anaheim, Laguna Hills and at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana. Instead of its normal closing hours, the department will close at 5:30 pm to issue marriage licenses and perform marriage ceremonies.

This year’s extended hours fall on a Friday which increases the potential for the department to break its Valentine’s Day record of 266 couples married and 310 licenses issued in a single day back in 2014.
